Membership of Suffolk Open Studios
To be eligible to join Suffolk Open studios prospective members must be committed makers and exhibitors of quality original works of art and/or craft, your studio/gallery must also located in the Suffolk area.
Full membership includes the following core events.
1. S.O.S Showcase Exhibition is held in May at Blackthorpe Barn, Rougham, near of Bury St Edmunds. All full members must exhibit examples of their work at this exhibition.
2. Open Studios - held during weekends in June from 11am to 5pm, members must open their studio/gallery for at least one weekend.
Full membership includes the following core events.

3. An autumn and/or winter exhibition that is held in different locations each year – members may take the opportunity to exhibit if they wish.
Other Events.
Art About Town aims to bring together local businesses and Suffolk Open Studio’s artists - Artwork is exhibited within business premises and provides an opportunity for a sneak preview of members work before June open studios.
S.O.S Members’ Exhibitions - a minimum of three SOS members may combine to arrange their own exhibitions and use the SOS name and appear in the directory and on the website.
Membership Options.
Full membership with an annual fee of £95 is for those artists who would like to participate in SOS events and open their studios to the public in June. Members should be aware that they are joining a mutually supportive network therefore all members are required to help with the distribution of the S.O.S directory, posters, and private view invitations. Members who are exhibiting their artwork at S.O.S core events are required to deliver and hang their own work and to take an active part in assisting with set up, take down and stewarding of the exhibitions.

You may of course opt out but this will attract a volunteer exemption fee of £40.
Associate membership - for a fee of £40, this is for those artists who do not wish to exhibit actively with S.O.S. or open their studios in June but would like to have an SOS website portfolio. This also makes sure that you are reminded about closing dates for full membership should you have missed the boat in any given year. Associate members will also receive news-emails, a copy of the directory and invitations to private views of the exhibitions.
Gallery membership with an annual fee of £100 is aimed at galleries who wish to be associated with SOS, to be included within the directory and on the S.O.S website under a galleries listing. Please note that galleries may not exhibit work at the May Showcase or autumn exhibitions.
